Dear Kaleid Ladies,
Good morning.
Life gets complicated. Sometimes we need a reminder to hold on to and to be held by the basics.
And so today’s email is a simple invitation to pray in the pattern of Jesus, in order to hold love and to be held by love.
Matthew 6:6-13 (CEB)
But when you pray, go to your room, shut the door, and pray to your Father who is present in that secret place. Your Father who sees what you do in secret will reward you.
God sees you. Breathe, and remember this reality.
When you pray, don’t pour out a flood of empty words, as the Gentiles do. They think that by saying many words they’ll be heard. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask.
God knows you. Breathe, and remember this reality.
Pray like this: Our Father who is in heaven, uphold the holiness of your name.
Choose one word from this phrase that invites you into God’s presence. Hold it and let it invite you to trust.
Bring in your kingdom so that your will is done on earth as it’s done in heaven.
Choose one word from this phrase that invites you to notice God’s movement. Hold it and let it invite you to awareness.
Give us the bread we need for today.
Choose one word from this phrase that invites you to tell God your needs. Hold it and let it invite you to faith.
Forgive us for the ways we have wronged you, just as we also forgive those who have wronged us.
Choose one word from this phrase that invites you to tell God your pain. Hold it and let it invite you to healing.
And don’t lead us into temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Choose one word from this phrase that invites you to tell God your fears. Hold it and let it invite you to safety.
Thank you, friends, for praying with us. We’d love to have you join us for our seven-week contemplative circle that begins next Wednesday morning, September 29th. We will go through the Lord’s Prayer phrase by phrase, listening for love. Register here.
Have a wonderful day!
Gratefully,
The Kaleid Team
